The trend is clear – women are increasingly wanting products that are high quality, non toxic, nourishing, and ethically sourced.

By stocking products and brands that align with this ever increasing health trend, you are able to promote your business to attract new health conscious, and ethically-minded clients, and grow your business knowing you are offering your clients the best there is without the compromise.

Bio Sculpture has taken a lead in this space, with its entire range of gel being non toxic, 100% vegan and animal cruelty free.

Bio Sculpture’s Treatment Gels are a industry leader in product health, being clinically proven to be safe, boasting the world’s only “5 Star Safety Rating” nail gel product.icons-safety

Bio Sculpture’s EVO Gel product range includes a unique Oxygenating Base Gel Technology that is a “Medical Grade” formulation, nourishing your client’s nails and keeping them healthy.

2) Menu refresh

Been a while since you upgraded your menu? One of the first points of contact with potential customers, your menu is a reflection your business. If it is old, outdated or uninviting with incoherent or lazy descriptions, potential new clients will be turned off and look elsewhere.

A menu refresh can modernise your salons and your clients perceptions, and attract new clientele using a few handy tips below:

  • Match the menu style to your salon décor – keeping a consistent branding image shows professionalism.
  • Use colourful and descriptive wording that sells each service or treatment. For example: Instead of using “Gel Colour” as a service description, play on the strengths of the products you are using to sell the service as a unique treatment offering, such as “Oxygenating Gel Colour with EVO By Bio Sculpture”
  • Emphasise or highlight your most popular or profitable services by placing them in their own box/section. This will immediately attract the eye of the client, and allow you to promote the features of these services more effectively

3) Learn new skills

Offering new and exciting services will help you differentiate your business from other competing salons. New and advanced services will also keep your clients engaged and excited with the increased variety and complexity of choices.

On top of adding colour and french applications, why not focus on offering more advanced treatment options such as nail biter extensions, custom nail art, strengthening gel treatments, and natural-looking gel sculptures.

Not only can you charge more for these bespoke nail services, but it will help you promote your salon as a professional and quality operation.

Bio Sculpture offers a wide range of advanced workshops that are aimed to assist nail technicians in broadening their skill set and service offerings.

4) Focus on retail

bio-sculpture-spa-retail

Too often clients are left in the dark, unaware of the amazing at-home nail treatment products that are available to keep their nails in tip top condition in-between salon visits.

Properly training and educating your staff and clients on the benefits of at-home nail care will translate in increased retail sales as well as more satisfied clients.

5) Mid-week offers

_colour1-(LR)

We all know mid-week can be a bit slow. Try and drum up some business by focusing on unique mid-week specials. These may include free spa treatment with gel manicure services, discount on selected retail products, or even a treatment upgrade.

Email marketing is an effective way to reach your list of clients, and can allow you to personalise the marketing message based on your clients service history.

6) Reward your VIP’s

30-(LR)

Treat your regular clients with a “VIP” status. The rewards can vary from a set discount on each service, a free treatment on their birthday, or a complementary massage with every visit. These clients are your greatest advertising asset.  Nurture them and they will bring many new clients to you via the greatest advertising of all – word of mouth.

Health Focus – Cuticle Care

Cuticles, cuticles, cuticles!

Often mistreated, the cuticles play an important part in nail health – acting as a protective barrier for the fast growing soft keratin that eventually becomes your nails.

If neglected, your cuticles may become damaged, dry or harden, and allow microscopic dust and organisms to penetrate the area under the cuticle. This may not only cause discomfort and pain, but may lead to an infection that impacts on the overall health of your nail, and can leave them feeling soft, discoloured or misshaped.

Below are some helpful tips to keep your cuticles healthy, and your nails strong and beautiful!

1) Keep ’em strong!

Like your skin, your cuticles need regular moisturising to maintain their health and structure. By regularly applying Nail Treatments like Bio Sculpture’s Cuticle Oil or Nail & Cuticle Conditioner, your cuticles will be enriched with nourishing jojoba, ginseng and almond oils keeping them healthy, strong and flexible.

TIP: Be sure to check the ingredients of your Nail Treatments – some nail hardeners and cuticle conditioners may contain toluene sulphonamide or formaldehyde which are irritants and can further damage the skin. Bio Sculpture products are 5 FREE, meaning they do not contain toluene sulphonamide and formaldehyde, as well as toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and formaldehyde.

Healthy Treatments = Healthy Nails

2) Leave it to the professionals

Tempted to bite, cut, pick, trim or clip those unruly cuticles? Think again. Cutting or trimming cuticles at home increases the risk of breaking that protective barrier, and allowing germs to enter and infect the cuticle or nail area. It is crucial that you go to a well trained Nail Technician, who understands how to provide a safe and healthy manicure service without damaging the cuticle.

All Bio Sculpture Nail Technicians have undergone training to ensure your nails and cuticles are professionally treated and cared for.

3) If you suspect that you have a cuticle infection, GO TO THE DOCTOR!

Doctors can easily treat cuticle infections with a range of antibacterial and anti-fungal treatments. Avoid getting gel or polish manicures or pedicures until your infection has gone, or you have received the all clear from the Doc.

FACT: An infection in the cuticle is called paronychia, and an infection in the nail plate is called onychomycosis

4) When it comes to your overall nail health – NEVER ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS THAN 5 STAR!

Bio Sculpture® Gel is the only clinically proven, 5-STAR SAFETY RATED nail system on the market today. Bio Sculpture Therapists have been trained to provide world-class nail care service that can shape, lengthen and condition of your nails without causing any damage to the natural nail!

What Colour Suits Your Complexion?

Compliment your complextion

2015 has arrived and this year we celebrate the kaleidoscope of skin colour all around the globe. Bio Sculpture® wants to encourage you to take care of your unique skin type. Love your natural tone, flaunt those freckles or beauty spots and embrace your peerless colour complexion by complimenting it with NAIL COLOUR.

Colour Skin Tone 1

There are no rules when it comes to colour although certain colours compliment certain complexions better than others.

Determining what side of the colour wheel will embellish your complexion:

Some complexions suit just about any colour. For the rest of us, some people’s skin has a gold/yellow undertone, while others have a blue/pink undertone. Analyse your wrist. If the veins appear blueish, you have a ‘cool/ocean’ complexion. If they appear greenish, you have a ‘warm/earth’ complexion. This specific undertone will help determine the colours you wear best. Another way to analyse, is to drape a red-orange scarf around your neck. Analyse your face. Then drape a red-violet scarf and compare the two. Some people suit both, but most will definitely fall either in the ‘cool/ocean’- or ‘warm/earth’ complexion category. The same test can be done by using a yellow-green and blue-green scarf.

Understanding Colour - Spectrum

Skin tone tips:

Fair/Pale skin tones

Stick to darker colours that contrast the skin – whites and pale colours might appear washed out.

Olive/Medium skin tones

Go either light, or dark. Be careful of brown, yellow or green undertones. It could make the skin appear yellow.

Darker skin tones

Pretty much any colour goes! Be careful of going too bright, too white or too dark/black.

Skin Tone 2

As all skin tones differ, use these tips as guidelines but never stop experimenting with COLOUR!

HOW TO: BIO SCULPTURE NAIL ART

Statement-making nail art designs are today’s must-have fashion accessory and this look created by Bio Sculpture nail artist, Simone Gilbert of Urban Bliss Beauty, is a simple yet effective way to dress up your digits.

This stunning design is inspired by the patterns you find on turquoise gemstone jewellery and can be used on just one feature finger or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, all your nails!

Products used:

• Bio Sculpture Executive Base
#120 Turquoise Teacup Bio Sculpture nail polish
#169 The Rebel Bio Sculpture nail polish
#2017 Licorice Bio Sculpture nail polish
• Glad wrap
• Mug filled with cold water
• Hairspray
• Bio Sculpture High Gloss Top Coat
• Bio Sculpture Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover
• Bio Sculpture Quick Dry Spray

Step 1

Apply a base coat of Executive Base and two coats of 120 Turquoise Teacup and allow to dry.

Step 2

Scrunch a piece of glad wrap up and apply a little #169 The Rebel nail polish to a section and blot on some paper to remove the excess. Very lightly dab the plastic wrap on your nail to create a marbling effect.

Step 3

Take your mug filled with water and place two drops of #2017 Licorice nail polish into the water. The nail polish will spread out and when it does, quickly spray the water with hairspray and watch as it forms an amazing pattern. Dip your finger into the mug to apply the black polish to your nails.

Clean up any polish on the skin using Bio Sculpture Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover.

Step 4

Apply High Gloss Top Coat to finish and a spray of Quick Dry, a fast drying polish spray.

GUEST BLOGGER: SIMONE GILBERT, URBAN BLISS BEAUTY, MELBOURNE

We invited the extremely talented, award winning nail artist Simone Gilbert to create one of her favourite nail art looks for winter.

Simone explains: “I love creating 3D nail art and one of the most popular accessories with my clients is studs. Incorporating them on a feature nail adds stunning depth, texture and an extra hint of glam! Here are my top tips for applying and securing studs, gems or crystals for a three dimensional finish.”

Bio Sculpture Products Used:

Steps

1: Clean and prepare the nail for your gel application. Apply Vitamin Dose to hydrate and nourish the nail.

2: Apply Executive Base to the centre of the nail bed and, once dry, lightly buff to remove the polish shine using your Grey Sponge file, being careful not to completely remove the polish. This step will not interfere with gel adhesion and ensures maximum protection of the nail during the removal process. Most importantly, it makes the gel faster to remove.

3: Apply a layer of Base Gel and cure with Bio Sculpture’s LED lamp for 30 seconds.

4: Apply two coats of #167 Seductive Lights to all nails except the feature fingers and cure each layer.

5: Using a sheet of Bio Sculpture Gold Foil Nugget, tear pieces off and apply to the feature nail. Pat down using your finger and cure for 10 seconds.

6: Apply a building layer of Hard Gel, cure for 60 seconds and then wipe away the tacky residue. Buff if required to shape.

7: Apply a thin layer of Soft Gel and while still wet apply your Gold Dots (studs) and cure for 30 seconds.

8: Apply a very thin layer of UV Top Coat gel as your finishing layer to seal in the studs and cure for 60 seconds. Remove residue and apply Cuticle Oil to the nail.
