Bio Sculpture Gel - Leading Nail Care

What Colour Suits Your Complexion?

Compliment your complextion

2015 has arrived and this year we celebrate the kaleidoscope of skin colour all around the globe. Bio Sculpture® wants to encourage you to take care of your unique skin type. Love your natural tone, flaunt those freckles or beauty spots and embrace your peerless colour complexion by complimenting it with NAIL COLOUR.

Colour Skin Tone 1

There are no rules when it comes to colour although certain colours compliment certain complexions better than others.

Determining what side of the colour wheel will embellish your complexion:

Some complexions suit just about any colour. For the rest of us, some people’s skin has a gold/yellow undertone, while others have a blue/pink undertone. Analyse your wrist. If the veins appear blueish, you have a ‘cool/ocean’ complexion. If they appear greenish, you have a ‘warm/earth’ complexion. This specific undertone will help determine the colours you wear best. Another way to analyse, is to drape a red-orange scarf around your neck. Analyse your face. Then drape a red-violet scarf and compare the two. Some people suit both, but most will definitely fall either in the ‘cool/ocean’- or ‘warm/earth’ complexion category. The same test can be done by using a yellow-green and blue-green scarf.

Understanding Colour - Spectrum

Skin tone tips:

Fair/Pale skin tones

Stick to darker colours that contrast the skin – whites and pale colours might appear washed out.

Olive/Medium skin tones

Go either light, or dark. Be careful of brown, yellow or green undertones. It could make the skin appear yellow.

Darker skin tones

Pretty much any colour goes! Be careful of going too bright, too white or too dark/black.

Skin Tone 2

As all skin tones differ, use these tips as guidelines but never stop experimenting with COLOUR!

The Hollywood Collection is Here!

The colours of Spring/Summer 2014 are all about sweet pastels and Bio Sculpture Gel is excited to reveal our new season collection including seven stunning shades that reflect the unmistakable glamour of 1950’s Hollywood and the glittering stars of a bygone era.

Each hue in this highly anticipated collection is influenced by the essence of a silver screen icon and will deliver a perfect pastel manicure or pedicure. The shades also complement each other beautifully so can be used in combination for those looking to experiment with nail art to create a custom look.

MARILYN #153: Marilyn, was the quiet but influential leader of the group, she was slightly more daring and experimental than the others. Soft and warm as well as being strong and edgy, Marilyn knew that by simply suggesting something the others would follow. The truth was, they knew it too.

BETTE #154: Bette spent most of the day casually peering over her sunglasses to see what Marilyn was up to. The others girls knew that Bette was by far the prettiest girl of the group. Bette combined sweet femininity and tough modernity beautifully.

JACKIE #155: Jackie was the loudest of the girls. You always knew when Jackie had arrived- her laugh was contagious and she attracted people like a designer jewellery store in Hollywood.

BRIGITTE #156: Brigitte was a zesty bright spark who loved the sunshine, basking in the rays of the Californian sun she was in her element. Nothing else around her mattered at all.

ELIZABETH #157: The men loved Elizabeth, she was the most feminine of the girls who unintentionally received the most attention from the men of Hollywood. She doesn’t follow trends or fashion but was always in style.

AUDREY #158: Soft and sweet was the best way to describe Audrey, her opinion wasn’t always heard but she didn’t mind. Audrey had an edge that oozed style.

GRACE #159: Grace was the serene one who had an immense calming effect on the girls; her head was always crisp and clear like the summer waters of California’s beaches.

The Hollywood Nail Collection is now available. Bio Sculpture overlays start at RRP $50.00 and the Bio Sculpture Hollywood Nail Collection Polishes are available to purchase at selected salons nationwide, RRP $19.95.

GET THE GREAT GATSBY LOOK WITH BIO SCULPTURE

The world has been captivated by Baz Luhrmann’s classic The Great Gatsby, which depicts the glamorous era in classic Luhrmann style. Set in 1922, the film is a kaleidoscope of decadent parties and devil may care attitudes and don’t even get us started on the fashion!

From the custom made Prada gowns to the faithfully recreated Tiffany and Co diamonds, the attention to detail is impeccable. For the women of this era, personal grooming was an essential part of life to show social standing, and this carried right through to nails.

Perfectly manicured at all times, these ladies appreciated the allure of the perfect nail.

CAREY MULLIGAN AS DAISY BUCHANAN

Daisy kept her look very simple and classic- a subtle French Manicure on mid length, slightly almond nails. This look is perfectly created with a simple clear coat of Bio Sculpture Gel or perhaps a single coat of #2 French Pink.

Carey however was able to get a little more into the Gatsby party spirit in her Vogue spread, featuring shimmering metallic silver. Get the look with #2015 Silver Shimmer, #138 Melting Mercury, #2001 Silky Satin or #93 Golden Silver.

ISLA FISHER AS MYRTLE WILSON

Myrtle Wilson was the livewire of Gatsby, eccentric and wanting to be a woman of higher standing, she craved the aristocratic life. Tantamount to this was her need to appear wealthy, hence her glamorous red nails, always impeccably manicured. Get this classic look with one of the myriad of perfect Bio Sculpture reds.

If that’s not enough, take a look at some Gatsby inspired manicures courtesy of Pinterest- think plenty of #2017 Licorice and #136 Smothered in Minerals!

GUEST BLOGGER: So Nailicious – Rock and Crystal How To

If you are anything like us, you are obsessed with So Nailicious. Creator Maria has a knack for creating the most incredible nail art and transforming humble polish into artwork for the hands. So endless is her inspiration for nails, she created the So Nailicious 30 Easy Nail Art Designs e-book which is available to purchase here.

We are thrilled that Maria is such a huge fan of Bio Sculpture polishes, especially the Rock and Crystal collection which she used in the below How To for her beautiful Art Noveau look. We can’t wait to see what she will create next! Make sure to go check her out at www.sonailicious.com.au.

Meet Maria from So Nailicious:

So Nailicious is a one stop destination to help you to make your nails look fabulous! Nail art, how to’s, nail polish reviews, nail and hand care product recommendations as well as expert tips and the latest nail trends.

Maria explains:

The popularity of nail art is growing right now. The main reason is that people are now looking for ways to make themselves happy without spending much. And, nail art is something that makes you happy while you’re doing it and even more satisfying once it’s finished. Not to mention all the compliments you can get on your creative manicure!

Mix’n’match manicures are big at the moment. The brighter the colours, the bolder the patterns – the better. Just like fashion at the moment, it’s all about freedom of expressing yourself. Studs, stripes, florals and crystals in any colour.

The Art Noveau look here includes two contrasting colours, two different techniques and different patterns on each nail, which makes it a perfect example of a mix’n’match manicure. You can re-create this look in much brighter shades (for instance, black & neon) and it would still look good! Enjoy!

Here at So Nailicious, we are big fans of Bio Sculpture. It’s rare to find a brand that ticks all the boxes – great formula, great brush, beautiful color palette and easy to work with. It’s particularly good for striping tape nail art because it dries fast and covers your nails evenly resulting in a perfectly smooth surface. Part of the the secret of these polishes perfect formula must be that they are created by nail professionals for nail professionals.

HOW TO:

  1. Paint 3 coats of Totally Topaz #140 on all nails and let it dry.
  2. Using striping tape create the pattern on each nail and paint over with Amethyst Moonstone #139. Remove striping tape.
  3. Apply studs and seal your nail art with a generous layer or three of top coat.

BIO SCULPTURE GEL AT THE LOGIES

The Bio Sculpture Gel team were given special behind the scenes access on Friday to set up a personal nail salon to prep nails for the beautiful ladies of Home and Away for TV’s night of nights – The Logies. The beauty of Bio Sculpture Gel meant that the Home and Away cast could get their nails done a few days prior to The Logies feeling confident that their nails would still be perfect for the red carpet days later, without any chips or scratches.

Nudes were the order of the day, but each chose a slightly different shade.

Ada Nicodemou, who plays ‘Leah’, chose Baby Doll for hands and feet- a soft baby pink to perfectly offset her nude peach and white dress.

Lynne McGranger, who plays the beloved ‘Irene’, selected Ashes of Roses for her toes and Dawn for her fingers- both of which subtly picked up the purple of her dress.

The latest cast member Bonnie Sveen, ‘Ricky’, selected Honey Beige on fingers, and as a manicure novice was amazed at the gel finish.

Gorgeous Emily Symons, ‘Marilyn’, chose a custom blend of Rose and White to create a super soft and subtle pink all of her own.

The lovely Lisa Gormley, ‘Bianca’, decided on Salmon Beige, her favourite Bio Sculpture colour, to offset her incredible red gown.

Newcomer, Kassandra Clementi, ‘Maddy’, went for a super sheer single coat of Ivory Beige for uber natural shine.

Take a look at some of the ladies on the red carpet- who is your favourite?
